December lends itself perfectly to an annual retrospective. Indeed, 2022 was a monumental year for Avantio, with incredible growth, our integration with Planet, and the hugely successful Avantio Partnership. This year was also full of incredible vacation rental conferences 2022, where we savored the opportunity to catch up with our clients, meet familiar and new industry faces, and explore the changing trends of the sector.

FITUR
Madrid, Spain
Our events calendar for 2022 started off strong in January, with a visit to FITUR in Madrid. This international conference and trade fair took place over four days, bringing together tourism professionals with a focus on LATAM markets. This was a great way for us to kick off the year, as our presence in these regions is going from strength to strength.
Bolsa de Turismo de Lisboa
Lisbon, Portugal
Our next stop in early March was a visit to BTL – Bolsa de Turismo de Lisboa – Portugal’s biggest tourism event! We connected with our clients and partners, as well as exploring the forecasted trends for the Portuguese tourism industry.
Congrès Expo des Conciergeries Locatives
Nantes, France
In late March we were France-bound for the first Congrès des conciergeries locatives in Nantes. Many of our French clients have a ‘concierge’ vacation rental business model, to which we are fully adapted. This event was the first of its kind arranged by our partners Reseau CLF, the professional concierge network.
Our France area sales director Benjamin also gave a talk on ‘the importance of automating management through technology’.

Amsterdam, Netherlands
After a hiatus, Booking.com’s iconic ‘Click.’ partner experience made a welcome return in April 2022 – and in person! Exclusive to the platform’s Premier Partners, we were honored to have been invited to connect once again with other industry leaders.
Our CEO Manuel, CMO Alex, and Head of Partnerships César went to Amsterdam to take part in the conversations shaping the vacation rental sector, and discover all the latest from this leading global OTA.
The new expectations of the “Modern Traveler”

It’s no secret that tourism and travel have changed significantly in the last couple of years, but what are the real expectations of the ‘Modern Traveler’ – and how can we continue to exceed them?
In mid-April, our team flew to ancient Athens, Greece where we hosted a private event along with partners Holidu and Pricelabs, exploring this question.
We shared how you can stay ahead of the curve, increase repeat bookings and create a loyal customer base by adapting to the expectations and needs of the modern traveler.
FUTurismo
Paris, France
In May we were back in France for our FUTurismo event, created in collaboration with partners SPLM, Airbnb, Rental Scale Up, and Roomonitor. This was an opportunity to find out how property managers in France (and beyond) are balancing revenue management with sector sustainability, and how smart tech can create a next-level guest experience. As the name suggests, this was a look at the future of tourism, and our role within that vision.
Shortyz Awards

We were delighted to once again be nominated for Best Property Management System at the Shortyz Short Term Rental Awards in 2022! The Shortyz are the Oscars of the Vacation Rental world, and having been proud winners in 2021, we certainly haven’t rested on our laurels.
This year we didn’t take home the prize, but to be shortlisted again among the biggest names in the market is in itself a prestigious accolade.
Short Stay Summit
London, England
As always, we were very much looking forward to the Short Stay Summit Europe in London.
This year’s theme was ‘Capitalizing on Growth’ – a subject that very much reflects our values and objectives. Our team was there to be part of conversations with other industry leaders, exploring the forthcoming trends of the short term vacation rental sector.
Scale Rentals Show
Barcelona, Spain
Next stop, Barcelona, where our team represented Avantio at the Scale Rentals Show at the end of May. This dynamic event was a unique opportunity for property managers to steer the direction of the sector, facilitating maximum growth for all parties.
We were proud Gold Sponsors of the show, sharing expertise on how to scale vacation rental businesses smartly and sustainably. We particularly valued the unique line-up of interactive sessions, industry experts, and attendee-driven content.

FUTurismo Roadshow Spain

After the successful first edition of FUTurismo Paris, we decided to take the action to our clients across Spain, launching a roadshow with three major destinations.
Again, working with our partners, our goal was to bring together all the different players of the short and medium term rental industry in order to present the latest insights of the sector.

Working closely with our clients to help them scale their business is one of our primary goals, which is why we hosted in-person training for our clients in the Canary Islands.
Our specialist team shared how to get the absolute most out of our software, so that our clients are confident to use the tools they have at their fingertips.
Avantio Day: Swiss Alps

At the end of June we were bound for the Swiss Alps, where we enjoyed an exploratory morning sharing with new clients how Avantio software has transformed local businesses.
We presented how our tools are fully adapted to the seasonal Swiss market, including a presentation from a local Avantio client. Of course, we offered a delicious traditional raclette for our invited guests!
VRMA Connect Colorado

We were proud sponsors of VRMA Connect Colorado in August, which was an opportunity to meet other market leaders and share regional market trends with our clients and exhibitors. We also took the opportunity to take a closer look at new government regulations in Colorado so that we’re prepared for how these may impact our local clients.

In September, representatives of our Portuguese team were in Porto for the Associação do Alojamento Local em Portugal seminar. We explored the ‘Challenges and Innovation’ of the vacation rental sector, and presented the best practices in optimization and innovation of vacation rental business management.

Next stop in September was the Vacation Rental World Summit also in beautiful Porto, Portugal! We were proud to be Gold Sponsors of this internationally-recognized event.
We enjoyed two days of round table talks, deep dive discussions, and even speed dating! While in Porto we seized the opportunity to arrange a welcome evening with our partners PriceLabs, where we all made the most of drinks and a delicious dinner.

FUTurismo Roadshow Spain – Part Two

After the heat of the Spanish summer subsided, we continued our FUTurismo Spanish tour, with stops in Sevilla, Madrid, and Barcelona. With our partners Roomonitor, Beyond, Civitatis.com, Swikly, Akiles and ABAL Consulting, we shared insights on the sustainability of our industry and what it means for our clients’ businesses.
Bonus round! Lisbon
Knowing that our Portuguese clients also deserved a taste of the FUTurismo action, we hopped over to Lisbon for an encore! We were again joined by valued partners, including ALEP, who represent the rights and interests of vacation rental businesses in Portugal.
The FUTurismo tour was a fantastic opportunity for us to bring the valuable combined insights of Avantio and our partners directly to our clients.
Vitur Summit 2022

In October we were Malaga-bound for the Vitur Summit: two days of innovative presentations, sector insights, and plenty of networking. The Vitur Summit is a key European event for short term rentals, serviced apartments, and alternative accommodations. Our Head of Partnerships, Cesar, contributed to the action with a talk on the latest trends in vacation rental integrations and partnerships. Already looking forward to 2023!

In mid-October our team was in Italy for TTG Travel Experience, one of the biggest hospitality events in the country!

Not everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
In fact, the Vacation Rental Management Association (VRMA) International Conference 2022 was specifically curated to ensure attendees leave with inspiration, solutions, and new partnerships.
Our team headed off to the world-famous Caesar’s Palace for the three-day extravaganza, where we shared a booth with partners Key Data Dashboard, and kept attendees fueled with an Avantio-sponsored coffee break. It was a treat to be at one of the biggest global vacation rental events of 2022.
10th ATA Symposium

Mid-November took us to the north of Spain for the 10th symposium of the Associació Turística d’Apartaments. ATA provides vital support and representation to vacation rental professionals with properties in the north of Spain. We’re proud to be able to extend this representation to Avantio clients!
